Bridgeton Fire Department
MDTs Installed in Apparatus 11/26/2006
During the week of November 20, the Bridgeton Fire Department completed installation and activation of Data 911 Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in two vehicles. Ladder 705 and the Ford Expedition operated by Chief Schoch had MDT units installed. Currently, the terminals are being used to run software that makes pre-plans available in the field on the scene of an emergency. The Command Scope pre-plan software is provided by Realview, LLC, of Chicago. This software allows department personnel to perform pre-plans on buildings in the city, enter them in any fire department computer, and have them automatically updated into the apparatus terminals for use during emergencies. The MDTs are capable of downloading weather, aerial imaging, hazardous materials and other information that may be helpful on the scene of an emergency. Plans for the immediate future call for the ability to have the MDTs connected to the Cumberland County 911 Center to receive dispatch and incident information instantly. Additional terminals will also be installed in other apparatus. Click here for information on Command Scope Software.
